A little bit about me...

As a little girl I was given stacks of pencils and crayons, heaps of encouragement to draw and oodles of opportunities to experience art. I remember bringing home from school drawings for mum and dad to hang on the kitchen wall and I knew it then: when I grow up, I want to draw.

I’m a little bit more grown up now. I did Fine Art at the University of Leeds and in 2007 I graduated with a first class honours degree. Then I worked at a design agency and after that two art galleries: Tate and The Hepworth Wakefield. When I wasn’t working I kept drawing. I made illustrations for Battersea Arts Centre, The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, West Yorkshire Playhouse and others.

Now I’ve graduated with a distinction in MA Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art and I’ve learned more than I would’ve thought possible. I already knew that I love drawing, but now I know that I love writing just as much!

My first picturebook, The Jar of Happiness, was published in late 2015 and I'm beginning work on a second, immensely exciting project. Watch this space!
